Hello! I’m Mary Kate
MSc Student
Hi, my name is Mary Kate Doherty. I am currently a student of Wildlife & Conservation Management at the University of South Wales. My main area of interest is sustainable agriculture with a focus on soil carbon sequestration. I am currently undertaking a research project investigating the effect of biofertilizer on the soil organic carbon content of agricultural soils. I will be carrying out this research in Ireland, where the idea of sustainable agriculture is becoming more popular and widespread among farming communities. During this project I will study the application of farm and dairy production waste and its effect on soil quality. I will analyse the soil over time to determine the change in soil organic carbon content, which will indicate the carbon sequestration potential of the soil. The aim of this project is to contribute to a sustainable cycle of inputs and outputs in modern agriculture. In the future, I hope to continue in this area of research and ensure a positive future for farming.
